Ted Alfred Garcia Jr., affectionately known as Eugene or Gene to those who knew him well, passed away on April 13, 2026, in his beloved hometown of Denver. Born on February 11, 1956, Ted's life was full of adventure, love, and heartfelt connections, leaving a mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

From his earliest days in Denver, Ted carried a vibrant spirit that was unmistakably his own. As a young man, his boldness was exemplified by an unforgettable journey hitchhiking from Colorado to California, a testament to his uninhibited nature and unyielding zest for life’s adventures. Ted’s sense of humor was as sharp as his wit, and he was known for being both fiercely proud—especially of his youthful good looks—and deeply sarcastic with a stern edge that only added to his charm.

Music was an inseparable part of who he was. Ted loved to strum his acoustic guitar and sing, filling rooms with his voice and melodies. His daughter, Chastity Quezada, fondly recalls the tender moments when he would play for her during her childhood, weaving comfort and joy into every note. These moments reveal the gentle heart beneath his confident exterior.

One of the most touching chapters of Ted's later years was the arrival of his great-granddaughter, Aviana Duran. Meeting her for the first time during Thanksgiving just before his passing brought immense happiness and pride to his final days. Ted cherished long rides through the mountains, especially trips to Estes Park in the springtime, where the fresh air and sweeping vistas mirrored the freedom he so valued in life. Above all, Ted was profoundly proud of his children—a pride that was a source of constant honor in his life. His love extended unconditionally to all of his children, regardless of life’s challenges. Ted is survived by his daughter, Chastity Quezada (Ezekiel); his son, Andrew Garcia; grandchildren Christopher Duran Jr., Joseph Duran, Andi Garcia, Christian Garcia, Zachariah Garcia, Gabriella Garcia, and Dominic Garcia; and his cherished great-granddaughter, Aviana Duran. They carry forward the legacy of a man who, despite life's complexities, embraced love with strength and devotion.

Ted was preceded in death by his son Lawrence Garcia, his parents, Ted and Jennie Garcia and several siblings. Their memories, alongside his, will be treasured by those who loved him.
