Thomas O. Maestas

April 10, 1933 — February 14, 2017

Thomas O. "Orlie" Maestas, 83, of Denver. Passed away February 14, 2017.

"Orlie" was born April 10, 1933 in Troy Colorado. He was one of eight children born to Fidel and Tomasita Maestas. He spent most of his childhood in Sarcillo, Colorado. He had a white horse named "Jack" that he would ride up and down the canyon and was nicknamed the "Sarcillo Kid".

He enlisted in the United States Army and then the United States Marines and was very proud of his service.

Eventually the family all made their way to Denver. In Denver, he had several different jobs from the Post Office to Silk Screening. He had 33 nieces and nephews and many following generations who all loved him dearly. He enjoyed camping with his brother and brothers in law and loved fishing, listening to music and watching westerns. His favorite thing was a cold beer. His main hobby was treasure hunting, one mans trash is another mans treasure and at some point everyone of us had a free day in his room.

We all miss "The First Marine"

He was the brother of Eulalia (the late Adam) Lechuga, Flora (the late Max) Bueno, Pricilla (Joe) Manning, Carol (Richard) Griego, Rebecca (Robert) Gonzales, Theresa (Ron) McAllister and the late Fidel (the late Sylvia) Maestas. The son of the late Fidel and the late Tomasita Maestas. Beloved uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.
