Thomas William (Tuddy) Black was born October 23, 1938 in Davidson County, Nashville, Tennessee to Julia M. Black.
He was the oldest of six children. He received his education in Nashville, TN, graduate of Pearl High School in 1956. In 1956 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was an active member for over 20 years.
At an early age, Thomas accepted Christ at Kayne Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Reverend Paul Hayes. In his later years, he united with 1st Baptist Church of Denver where he actively served.
After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Thomas was employed by the Denver Sheriff's department and Continental Airlines.
After a brief illness God chose Friday, April 19, 2013 to take his beloved child and said, "I Love You, Come Home".
He is preceded in death by his son Thomas Jushima and grandson Thomas Dewayne.
He is survived by his wife Judy Black. Thomas is also, survived by daughter, Cynthia Black and son, Stanley Black. His children's mother, Sadie Black; four sisters: Melba (William) Corely, Arlita (Sherman) Swanson, Karen Greer, Freda Whitney; and brother: Byron Black all of Nashville, TN. Grandchildren; Sabrina (Clement) Piggot and Jason Black of Denver, Thomas Nicholas Black of Blytheville, Arkansas and Jasmine Black of Kennett, Missouri. Great Grandchildren Timothy and Joshua Piggot of Denver, CO. Aunts: Alberta Crawford and Mary Black of Nashville, TN, Annie Black of Los Angeles, CA, Florence Black of Malden, MA. Stepchildren; Lori Rodgers of Montrose, CO, David Rodgers of Indianapolis, IN, Timothy Rodgers of Maryland and René Cook of Pennsylvania. Devoted cousin Allen A. Black, III. And a host of devoted nieces and nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends; especially his devoted friend Joe (Amelia) Lawrence, Jr.
A visitation will be held Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home-East Chapel from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Viewing at Lowry Community Christain Church on Monday, April 29 from 10:30 Am to 11:30 AM with the funeral service at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area "A" at 2:00 PM.
