Tommy Scott Jr. was born on November 22, 1932, in LaGrange, Texas, to Tommy Scott Sr. and Allie Mae Scott.
He graduated from Dunbar High School in Lubbock, Texas and was drafted into the United States Army in 1953. After completing basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Tommy was stationed at Camp Stewart in Georgia.
On February 26, 1953, just before beginning his military service, Tommy married the love of his life, Herma Lee Elder. Together they built a remarkable life and celebrated an incredible 72 years of marriage.
To their union were born five children: Marilyn Marie, Carolyn Ann, Patricia Lynn, Gary Lawrence, and Anthony Wayne.
In 1957, the family relocated to Denver, Colorado, where Tommy worked as a chef at various restaurants throughout the Denver metro area. He was known not only for his skill in the kitchen, but also for his famous backyard barbecues, which he loved to share with family and friends.
An avid fisherman and lover of the outdoors, Tommy continued fishing well into his 80s. His quiet strength, warm smile, and storytelling were staples of family gatherings.
Tommy was baptized at Park Hill Christian Church and later became a member of Bethsaida Christian Center, where he deepened his faith and sense of community.
On the evening of July 28, 2025, Tommy passed away peacefully at the age of 92, after a long and well-lived life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy Sr. and Allie Mae Scott; his beloved daughter Marilyn; and siblings Earlene, Delores, Betty Jo, Mary Alice, Clyde, and Dorothy.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Herma Lee; sister Helen; children Carolyn, Patricia, Gary (Vicki), and Anthony (Annie); eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Tommy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
