Carl Tony Calerich Jr.~ Known to many as "Tony" or "Junior". Tony was born on March 3rd, 1942 - passed away at the age of 74 on February 20th, 2017 in his long time North Denver home.
He is preceded in death by his parents Tony Sr. and Dorothy and his brother Jim. He is survived by 1 sister Dottie Calerich-Gorden. Loving uncle to Christine Gorden, David Gorden , Daniel Gorden, Leslie & Marco Rojas, Andrea Gorden and Nick Adams. Great uncle to Michael, Steven, Nicholas, Jessica, Vanessa & Kaycie Gorden, Tatum Wernz, Anthony, Wyatt, Willie & Alex Adams.
Tony JR. was born in Pueblo, Colorado. His family moved to Denver where he attended elementary and junior high schools. He graduated from North High School in 1960. Tony worked with his father for many years in the wholesale meat business, delivering to mountain restaurants and ski resorts in Colorado. He took up showing horses with his nieces and nephews, travelling to national shows in many different states. He was also a member of the Denver International Racing Pigeon Association where he participated in raising and racing pigeons.
Everyday was an adventure in Tony's early life. An avid sportsman, Tony frequently went on family hunting and fishing trips. He was a great teacher of hunting safety and shooting skills to the young male and female family members, lessons we're given and lessons we're learned as to "how to" and how not to do it. Many evenings are filled with stories and memories of the various hunting and fishing "escapades" experienced by all.
Tony, being the star sign Pisces, spent many days fishing the Colorado mountain lakes and rivers. He fished many days at Chatfield Reservoir and loved making the trip to 11 mile Reservoir. The last few years in a wheel-chair may have limited his hunting and fishing trips, but his desire and enthusiasm never dimmed and he was always ready to go. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, generous nature and his family-oriented qualities and traditions. He loved cooking family dinners on special occasions, holidays and especially Broncos Sundays. His spaghetti sauce, stuffed peppers, saramos and turkey with dressing will never be replicated.
Tony Jr. touched many lives with his wonderful spirit and his selflessness ways. No matter what he always had a smile on his face and could make light of any situation with a funny joke or wise crack. For all of those who truly new Jr. words cannot express how special he was to all of us. A piece of us went with you that day and we know you are watching over us all from above. Don't know if the good Lord allows dove hunting up there but we know you are fishing in the lakes of heaven. Until we meet again.....
