Travis Eugene Pippin
Born June 1, 1918 to Samuel Benjamin Pippin and Onie Lee Ansley Pippin in Ridge, Texas.
Travis was the youngest of 9 children, all preceding him in death; Sam, Homer, Pearl, Bettie, Christine, Ada and his cherished baby sister Helen D. Pippin Tipsword.
He graduated from Antlers Oklahoma High School and finished his formal education in the military.
On July 19, 1942 he married his adored Pauline Margaret Terry in Denver, Colorado. Pauline preceded him in death on April 12, 1995. From their marriage came 2 children, Gregory Lee Pippin born on February 17, 1949 of Las Vegas and Reba Louise Pippin born on August 7, 1953. Reba passed away on December 24, 2012.
Travis was career military, beginning in the Army and going directly to the Air Force. He entered the Army in July of 1943 and went to the Air Force in 1945. Travis was a Reconnaissance Photographer for James Doolittle. Travis took all the pictures of the bombings during WWII. At Travis' retiring as a Major, Doolittle wrote a letter of commendation for Mr. Pippin's precision and content eye made his flying and bombing to be on spot. When leaving the military, the family lived in Denver.
Travis worked for the United States Postal Service and as an educated meat cutter.
