Vada Lynette Patterson, 93, of Denver, passed away October 6, 2017.
Reverend Vada Patterson was born August 17, 1924 in Monroe, Louisiana, the daughter of Louis and Oraleetta (Murray) Hampton. She lived most of her life in Shreveport, Louisiana until she relocated to Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Shreveport Norton Draughon Business College, Faith Bible College (Certificate of completion in Biblical Studies) and the School of Chaplaincy. She served as Chaplain for several hospitals.
Reverend Patterson served as the President of the Northern District Baptist Association Women's Department of the Western States Baptist Convention for 8 years.
Reverend Patterson was a licensed and ordained Minister at the Macedonia Baptist Church of Denver where she served as Associate Pastor, Director of Evangelism/Outreach, Sunday school and Bible study teacher, and advisor to the Mission Ministry.
Reverend Patterson is the widow of the late Reverend Clifford P. Patterson.
Vada is survived by her daughter, Pamela Patterson; son, Eric Patterson; two grandchildren, Christyl (Larran) Benford and Branden Patterson; great-grandchild, Madisyn Benford; four brothers, Donald Hampton, Carl Hampton, Horace Hampton, and Charles Hampton. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Prince Patterson; parents, Louis and Oraleetta Hampton; brothers, Louis Hampton, Willie Hampton, and William Hampton; and sisters, Lou Hampton and Lilly Hampton.
