Vernon C. Bray

Vernon Castle Bray, 94, of Denver, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017. He was born to the late Ernest and Etta Bray, March 7, 1923, in Bancroft, Nebraska. Vernon graduated from Bancroft High School in 1941 and immediatley joined the United States Marine Corps. He married Elizabeth Browning in 1947, before relocating to Denver.

Vernon worked in real estate for a while before finally going to work in the construction industry as a plumber. He worked for a variety of lcal plumbing shops and eventually went to work for Natkin & Company, a national plumbing, heating, and sheet metal shop that specialized in large commercial projects; he retired in 1987 . Vernon was an avid golfer and belonged to the Applewood Men's Club for more than 30 years. He enjoyed listening to music and especially dancing.

Vernon is survived by his wife Elizabeth ( Betty) of 70 years, and three children: Dolan Bray and his wife Lori, of Highlands Ranch, CO; Kevin Bray and partner Ruth , of Regansburg, Germany; and Tracey Mondragon ( Bray) and her husband Paul, of Parker, CO. He is also survived by six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Etta Bray, brother Steve, brother Elton, sister Myrna Marr, and sister Justin Elliot.

A viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home West Metro Chapel from 10 am to 11 am Friday, December 8. Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home West Metro Chapel Friday at 11:00 am fallowed by burial at Ft. Logan cemetery, Staging Area C at 1:15 pm.
