Celebrating the Life of Victor Daniel Lovato November 8, 1937 – August 17, 2025
On August 17, 2025, we said goodbye to Victor Daniel Lovato — a father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence filled every room with humor and love. He was 87 years old. Born in Clayton, New Mexico to Flora (Lopez) and Lloyd Lovato. He passed away peacefully in Aurora, Colorado.
Victor lived a full life. He worked for the Boulder Fire Department and the Denver Police Department, and also spent many years as a roofer — a trade that suited his hardworking nature, leadership, and strength. He lovingly passed this trade along to his sons and nephews.
Outside of work, Victor had a playful and generous spirit. He loved the thrill of dog and horse races, the relaxation of golf, and — above all — cheering on his grandchildren at their practices and games. He was their biggest fan, showing up with loyalty and pride whenever he could.
Faith was important to Victor. As a Catholic, he tried to live up to his beliefs and gave back through his regular support of St. Jude’s and the Shriners. He also had a way of making people laugh and feel loved. Victor had a large presence; he was a free spirit, a man of pride, and he was comfortable in his solitude. He was also funny, loyal, and generous to a fault, always putting others before himself.
Victor’s legacy lives on through his sons Joe and Dan Lovato; his sisters Deborah Smith and Barbara Godinez, and his brother Vince Lovato; his beloved grandchildren Nicole Phillips, Mark Doyle, TJ Lovato, Kendall Gerner, Tyler Lovato, Bella Lovato, Danny Lovato, and Max Lovato; who brought him endless joy. He also leaves behind his former wife, Victoria (Young) Lovato. He is reunited in peace with his sons Nick Lovato and Rick Lovato, who preceded him in death.
All services will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home (190 Potomac St, Aurora, CO 80011). The viewing will be from 10–11 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m., with a reception from 12–2 p.m. Flowers are welcome and may be sent directly to the funeral home. The family also welcomes contributions toward the reception through Victor’s son Daniel (Venmo @Daniel-Lovato-9) or by signing up to bring a dish to the potluck reception at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E084FAEAE29A0FD0-58054649-funeral
