Vincent Gene Sindt (Vince) was born in Holstein, Iowa, on September 13, 1934, to Burdette and Verna Sindt. The family moved to the Denver area 3 years later. In a few years, they settled in the Bancroft neighborhood, a few blocks west of Sheridan on Kentucky Street. Vince was in the inaugural freshman class of the new Alameda High School, graduating in 1952. After serving in the US Navy during the Korean War, he attended the Colorado State Teachers College (now University of Northern Colorado) in Greeley. He received his master's degree in 1962 from New Mexico Highlands University.
Vince married Joyce Nelsen on New Years Day, 1956. Debbie was born in Greeley in 1957. After graduation in 1958, Vince was employed as the science teacher at Evergreen High School. The family lived in Golden, where Kathy was born in 1960, and then in Evergreen.
In 1965, the family moved to Kwajalein, in the Marshall Islands for 3 years. Vince taught chemistry and physics at the high school. In 1968, they moved to Cheyenne, where Vince was employed by the Wyoming Department of Education.
In 1971, the family moved to Laramie, WY. Vince was the Coordinator and Director of the Science Math Teaching Center at the University of Wyoming for 26 years. He spent his career at the university training teachers throughout the state of Wyoming in science, math, and ecology. His passion was to help teachers help their students to love learning and to develop critical thinking skills. Vince was a speaker at conferences all over the country and published several articles.
Vince was an avid fly fisherman and spent countless hours at the streams around the family’s cabin in Keystone, WY. He supported all of his daughters’ endeavors, attending almost every concert and program they were in..
After retirement, Vince and Joyce travelled in their RV with friends, and spent winters in Yuma, AZ. In 2010, they moved to Denver to be closer to family and moved to the SkyPointe Retirement Resort in 2021.
Vince is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joyce, brother Jerry, daughters Deb Beatty and Kathy Sindt, granddaughters Lisa Brown (Darold) and Christa Snodgrass (Charles) 4 great grandchildren, Brady (18), Liam (14), Danae (10) and Ryland (9) and nieces, nephews, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Sindt.
