Virginia E. Rivas

Virginia E. Rivas (75) of Lakewood, Colorado died at 4 a.m. Saturday morning after her 20 year battle with cancer. She was born to the late Moderto, and Loreta (Garcia) Chavez, on August 18th 1938 in Mora, New Mexico. She attended high school at Manuel in Denver. She married Ruben L. Rivas in 1955. They have lived in Colorado their entire married lives, and recently celebrated their 59 year anniversary.

Virginia has been an active member of Barnum Kingdom Hall, where her faith had kept her strength through her long battle with cancer. She loved her participation in religious meetings, attention to her beautiful home, and most of all her love for her family.

Virginia is survived by her husband: Ruben L. Rivas; three children: Beverly (David) Jaquez, Catherine (Tim) Metzler, and Louis R. Rivas; brothers: Lee and Lawrence Chavez; sisters: Gloria Loya and Martha Seper. She also left us with 3 Grandchildren, Eric (Carmela) Jaquez, Brandon Jaquez, McKenna Shae Rivas, along with many loved ones.

Memorial Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 901 S. Sheridan Blvd. at 11 AM on the 21st of July. Following the memorial service there will be a reception to celebrate Virginia's life at the Celebrate Reception Hall at 2129 S Sheridan, Denver, Colorado, 80227.
