Walter Fritzler

Walter (Walt) Fritzler, 93, of Littleton, Colorado, died Wednesday, October 2, 2024. He was born to John and Mary Fritzler on August 5, 1931, in Keenesburg, Colorado. Walt was one of nine children. He grew up in the Globeville area of Denver and graduated from Denver North High School in 1950. He served in the US Army during the Korean war but was not assigned to battle. Walt married Peggy Fritzler in 1956 and lived in Denver and then later moved to Lakewood, Colorado. 

Walt worked as a bus driver for 35 years with the Denver Tramway / RTD. He was bus driver of the year in 1980 and retired in 1988. Walt was very creative and a gifted artist and he spent many hours drawing and painting watercolor scenes. He continued this hobby until his eyesight failed him later in life. He loved to travel, taking many trips with the family to Disneyland, Disney World and road trips to various places throughout the United States. Walt also loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing video games, setting up the outdoor pool in the backyard, and having ample supplies of various treats. He adored Christmas time when he could decorate and come up with creative ways to show off his Christmas spirit.

Walt is survived by three children: Tom Fritzler of Lakewood, Chris Fritzler of Littleton, and Kellie Bodycomb of Littleton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Walt is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Fritzler, his parents, John and Mary Fritzler, and his five sisters and three brothers.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home. A gathering and ceremony will take place starting at 10 am, the service at 11 am, and then a reception with food and refreshments following the services.
