Waunita Crocker, 95, of Aurora, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013. Waunita was born on June 29, 1917 in Kaw, Oklahoma. Where she was raised on the family farm. She attended Newkirk High School in Newkirk, Oklahoma. After graduation she moved to Ponca City, where she worked as a beautician and met Liston "Bill" Crocker.
After her marriage to Bill they relocated to Venezuela for Bill's work as a Foreman for the Lumas Company setting up an oil refinery. Waunita then set up her beauty shop in Venezuela for the five years they were living there. The couple then were sent to Beaumont, Texas, where they lived until she moved to Colorado to stay with her niece, Nita, in December of 2009.
While she lived in Beaumont, she became active at Ridgewood Church of Christ. Waunita had become a splendid seamstress that could craft almost anything, she was also a wonderful cook.
Waunita will always be remembered by her friends and family as being very sweet and quiet, she will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Iva Barnett; and her loving husband, Liston Crocker; sisters, Stella Marguerite Burket and Marie Gildhouse; and brother, Virgil Barnett. She is survived by her niece, Nita (Dale) Pratt of Aurora; great nephew, Michael (Heidi) Pratt and their children, Alex and Andrew Pratt; great niece, Susan (Tom) Willett and their children, Tiffany and Joshua Willett; and other friends and relatives.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Smoky Hill Baptist Church, 19315 E. Smoky Hill Road, Centennial, CO 80015.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Smoky Hill Baptist Church in Waunita's name.
