Weldon Dewain Price passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on May 30, 2025.
Dewain was born on July 31, 1934, in Poyen, Arkansas, to Lawrence and Hattie Price.
He started work at a young age, delivering groceries and stocking shelves, and this early entry into the working world taught him to work hard and take pride in a job well done.
He enlisted in the United States Army and was soon assigned to a medical unit in Landstuhl, Germany. It was there he met Suzanne Barrow, and they were married in August of 1958.
His army career took them and their growing family around the United States, eventually settling in Aurora, Colorado, in 1972, where they enjoyed raising their 7 children.
After 20 years of military service, Dewain retired and started his second career as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He retired again after two decades of dedicated service. Dewain was devoted to Sue, and they spent their remaining years traveling, camping, enjoying the many hot springs around Colorado, visiting family around the United States, including Alaska, and entertaining their many grandchildren. They moved briefly to Calabash, North Carolina, where they spent many hours on the beach and enjoyed visits from family. They returned to Colorado in 2002 and settled again in Aurora.
Dewain and Sue moved into a senior living facility in 2018 and quickly made friends with other residents and staff. Dewain was quick with a joke and always made people laugh. He even participated in a resident talent show, doing a stand-up routine which delighted the crowd. Sue preceded him in death in 2022, leaving a huge hole in his heart.
Dewain was an amazing father, and he will be dearly missed. He loved his wife and children unconditionally, a fact he told them often and showed in everything that he did.
Dewain leaves behind his 7 children, Shelly (Rob) Klus, Kathryn Price, John (Karen) Price, Tim (Helene) Price, Dan (Steph) Price, Stephanie (Kelly) Corbet, and Robert (Gerald) Price, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to Sue, he was preceded in death by daughter Rosemary, his parents, and sisters Mildred Thomason and Bonnie McFalls.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Covenant Cupboard Food Pantry, where Dewain volunteered.
