William Arthur Austin
Died May 22, 2012
Born October 14, 1920

William Arthur Austin was born to William Albert and Mariah (Bettis) Austin in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Bill's father passed away when he was just 13 years old so he quit school to help support the family. He delivered telegrams for Western Union at that time. During World War II he served in both the European Theater, (where he received The Purple Heart) and the Aleutian Islands. Bill married Roxie Lorraine Harrison in 1944. Together they had 3 children: Bill, Pat, and Barb. After the war, he completed his apprenticeship as a plumber and moved the family for a brief stint to Illinois for work. They found their way back to Arkansas for a short time before moving to Colorado in 1955.

Once in Colorado, Bill earned his masters plumbing license and was a member of The Plumbers Local #3 for 56 years. As a plumber, he worked for large contractors in Colorado until he retired in 1980. Bill was also a member of Applewood Baptist Church for over 30 years. Bill's wife Roxie passed away in 2008.

Bill was admired for his caring ways and wonderful sense of humor. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Roxie, brother Edward, and sister Nona. He is survived by his son Bill (Kathy) Austin, daughter Pat (Russ) Mayer, daughter Barb (Tim) Roark. He is also survived by grandchildren Heath(Sandy) Austin, Gayla (Steve) Lattimer, Kaylynn (Brad) Johnson, Gavin Mayer, Tyler (Tiffany)Roark, Tanner Roark. His surviving great-grand children are Connor and Macy Lattimer, Annabeth and Briar Johnson, and Case and Braden Austin.
Bill's surviving sibling is his sister Sammy (Bill) Brooks of Huntsville, Alabama.
