William (Bill) Anthony Szalach I, a cherished man known for his kind, caring, helpful, and humorous personality, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 21, 1959 in Niagara Falls, NY, Bill lived a courteous life selflessly driven in service for others.
He is survived by his two children Kristina (Adam) and Tony (Kelly), his granddaughters Caitlin and Alexis, his nephew and nieces Michael, Jennifer, Olivia, and Claire, his sister Marylou (Kevin), sister-in-law Lisa, and brother-in-law Chuck (Richard), along with countless life-long loving friends. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Rosann, brother David, and parents Louis and Mary.
A veteran of the United States Air Force (retired), Bill proudly served the USA for more than 20 years in civil engineering where he was stationed in Colorado and Michigan, and served on remote assignments throughout Central America as well as in the Aleutian Islands off the far east coast of Russia. After retiring from the USAF, Bill established his own contracting business where he offered building maintenance and repair services to several transportation and logistics companies throughout Colorado.
Bill was strong willed and stubborn at times, possessing an enormous heart and silly sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. A jack of all trades and master of few, he was an innovative thinker; full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences: welder, carpenter, mechanic, climber, fisherman, bicyclist, contractor — he could fix or build anything.
An unrelenting and affectionate caregiver to his wife Rosann, he spent decades patiently and proudly supporting her needs and the needs of his family. Perhaps his greatest joy was his role as Papa to his two beautiful granddaughters, and most recently, as “Fur Papa” to what he lovingly endeared as his “grand-poopies.”
William “Bill” A. Szalach I, a beacon of compassion, loyalty, and kindness, will forever reside in our hearts leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us.
