William Lawrence Snyder, 92, of Lakewood, CO died February 28, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Throughout his life, he was devoted to his family, faith and church.
Bill was born in Crested Butte, CO June 28, 1933, to James and Anna Snyder. He is survived by his wife, Leandra, three daughters Carolyn Plumb (Mitch), Shelley Mann (Rick) and Pam Lockwood (Daniel), four granddaughters Christa Darrow, Ashley Darrow, Lisa Lamson (Brian) and Julie Mann, two great grandsons John Paul and Andrew Lamson, all of the Denver area, sister DeAnna Stallcup of Seguin, TX, brother-in-law Ken Fagan of Houston, TX and sisters-in-law Roxie West of Dallas, TX, and Arlene Goad of Grand Junction, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Snyder, Lubbock, TX and two sisters, Eva Dorris of Denver, CO and Margie Fagan of Houston, TX.
Bill moved from Crested Butte to Somerset, CO as a young child. He graduated from Paonia High School and joined the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed in Texas, Virginia, California and Japan. After being discharged from the Air Force, he attended the New York Institute of Photography.
Bill then moved back to Colorado where he met the love of his life, Leandra Goad, in Grand Junction. They were married on April 28, 1962, and settled in Lakewood, CO where they raised their three daughters.
Bill's training in the Air Force led to a career as a cartographer for the Atomic Energy Commission in Grand Junction, CO and the United States Geological Survey in Lakewood, CO, where he retired in 1992.
In addition to spending time with family and friends, Bill found joy and fulfillment in volunteering, including countless hours as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Jude Church, Lutheran Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital and to the sick and homebound. He also enjoyed raising tropical fish, square dancing, camping, fishing, hiking (including many 14,000-foot peaks in Colorado), and traveling to many places in the U.S. and abroad. Bill was a fan of the Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche and Rockies.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Catholic Church.
