Willis L. Sarka, Jr., 63, of Strasburg, Colorado passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at his residence in Strasburg after a long struggle with stomach cancer. Rosary will be at 2:00 pm followed by a Funeral Mass at 2:30 pm, and a reception at the church on October 25, 2013 at Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church, 186 N. McDonnell St., Byers, Colorado 80103.
Willie was born April 24, 1950 in Charleston, South Carolina to Willis and Grace Joan Sarka, Sr. He graduated from St. Angela Academy, Aiken, SC in 1968. He worked for King Soopers for over 39 years as an all-purpose clerk and part time for RTD as a bus operator for 10 years. He retired from King Soopers in 2010 to become a 7-Eleven Franchisee with a store located in Aurora, Colorado. He married Deborah Sarka in 1973 and together they raised three sons – Willis, Randall and Benjamin. Willis enjoyed many things but his family and friends were his main joy.
He is survived by his wife Deborah Sarka; Sons, Willis Sarka III and Nancy McCamey, Randall Sarka and wife Jennifer, and Benjamin Sarka; Grandson Nathan Sarka and Granddaughter Kaitlyn Sarka; Brothers Christopher Sarka, Karl Sarka; Sisters Judith Farrow, Suzanne Johnson, Maureen Seigler, Geraldine Abbott, along with various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Willis and Grace Joan; brother George Francis; grandparents Chrissie and Elva Sarka and Nolan and Adele Pontiff.
