Wilma Louise McDonald Hatz, 91 of Lakewood, CO, passed away July 8, 2014.
She was born November 3, 1922 in Eldon, Missouri, the daughter of Stanley and Bessie (Ferris) Blackburn, and sister to two brothers and four sisters---Stanley, Jenny, Robert, Roberta, Hazel and Betty.
She grew up in Laramie, WY and graduated from high school there. In February 1941, Wilma married Joseph (Steve) McDonald. They had three daughters, Sharon Louise, Brenda Jo, and Pamela Kay. Joseph died in February 1973. Two years later, in November 1975, Wilma married Richard (Dick) Hatz . He died in June 2001.
Wilma worked for many years as a secretary for several large companies. After her marriage to Dick Hatz she quit working and was a homemaker but occasionally helped Dick with some of the clerical work for his electrical company. After Dick retired they kept their home in Lakewood but traveled extensively all over the US in their RV and visited many beautiful places. After Dick's death, Wilma continued her love of traveling with her daughter Sharon and son-in-law John, they also enjoyed many camping and fishing trips together. Many times Wilma caught more fish than anyone! Wilma loved to sing and she had a beautiful soprano voice. She sang in the church choir and sang solos in the Baptist churches she attended over the years. She also enjoyed crocheting and she made many beautiful afghans for her children, grandchildren, and friends.
Wilma is survived by her three daughters, Sharon L. Spitler, Brenda J. Steele, Pamela K. Mantelli, two sons-in-law, John Spitler and Richard Mantelli, seven grandchildren - Troy Spitler, Tracy Spitler, Clint Steele, Deana Steele, Chad Steele, Chris Mantelli and Justin Mantelli and eleven great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening July 15th between the hours of 6 to 8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 901 S. Sheridan Blvd

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 16th at 10:00 AM at Crown Hill Cemetery, 26th and Wadsworth Blvd, 303-233-4611.
