Roy "Winston" Lowrie of Aurora, Colorado, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, February 16th, 2014, after 91 years on earth.
He was born to Roy E. Lowrie and Edith L. Lowrie, November 9th, 1922, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Winston graduated from North High School in 1941. He went to trade school for welding, then went to work at Flour City Ornamental Iron as a welder's helper. He enlisted in the United States Navy as an Aviation Cadet; he was called up in September 1942 and left the service in September 1945.
He went back to work at Flour City and there he met Donna-a timekeeper there. He married Donna on May 25th, 1946. They had three children: Patricia Ann (deceased), Terrence Roy and Pamela Jane. Winston designed and built their house in 1950 on 5 acres of wooded land. He went into a business of his own in 1961 and then retired in 1985. Winston lived in Minnesota, Texas, Arizona, and finally in Colorado.
Winston is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Gloria Lowrie; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Mark Lunder; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lowrie; his daughter, Patricia Jackson; his parents, Roy and Edith Lowrie; his sister Lois; and brother Eugene.
