Mary R. Tafoya, 90, of Lakewood, passed away October 4, 2018.

She was born February 6, 1928 in Trujillo, New Mexico, the daughter of Damacio and Andrea (Ulivarri) Licon.

Mary was a graduate of West High School in Denver.

Mary enjoyed visiting Sweetwater Lake with her family. Mary loved horseback riding and golfing. She will be remembered for her cooking and her baking. Mary saved memorabilia and put together photo books for her children to remember their childhood. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary was a strong Christian woman who enjoyed reading her Bible and going to church.

Mary is survived by two sons, Phillip Tafoya and Anthony Tafoya; two daughters, Geraldine "Geri" Trujillo and Andrea M. Kraft; nine grandchildren, Tracy Trujillo, Melissa Tafoya, Cole (Jena) Kraft, Lindsey Tafoya, Monique Gonzales, Kayla Tafoya, Alexis (Jose) Romo, Sheriah Hendricks and Derrick Howe; 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends including her godson, Carlos Nieto and close family friend, Joyce Moniz. Also, the family wishes to extend a special thanks and recognition to Mary Cleo Nieto for always calling to inquire about her favorite Auntie.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
