Barbara Francine Ahlstrand, 71, of Littleton, died April 12, 2019. She was born to the late Wilson and Marguerite Bridges, June 8, 1947, in Norfolk, Virginia. Her father’s Navy career took the family to New Jersey, San Diego, CA, New Orleans, LA, and Kodiak, AK. Barbara graduated from Acadia Baptist Academy in Eunice, LA., and received an Associate Degree in Preschool Education from Arapahoe Community College, Littleton, Colorado. She married Dennis Ahlstrand in 1976 in Houston Texas. They relocated to Littleton in 1979.
Barbara loved working with preschool children at various daycare facilities. Later her compassionate heart lead her to care for the elderly at their homes and in assisted living homes. She loved the Lord and was an active member at Mission Hills Baptist church for 30 years and later attended United Methodist Church of Littleton.
Barbara is survived by her husband Dennis and two children: Michael Ahlstrand of Denver, CO, and Rachel Ahlstrand of Littleton, CO; and step daughter Pennington Neuhaus of Union City, CA. She also is survived by six grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Wilson and Marguerite Bridges and her brother James Bridges.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to HopeKids, which is a support community for families who have a child with cancer or some other life-threatening medical condition.
