Arla Merle Yost, 94, died on November 24, 2019, in Lakewood, Colorado.
Born on May 16, 1925, she was the daughter of Charles and Esther (Grannis) Vandruff. Arla was raised on a farm near Holbrook, Nebraska. She attended Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney. She was an elementary school teacher and principal before marrying Carl Edward Yost in June 1954 in Lexington, Nebraska.
Arla and Carl and their two young sons lived in eight different states as they followed Carl’s work in oil exploration. They settled in Lakewood in 1969.
Survivors include two sons, Alan (Sarah), North Andover, Mass., and Vernon, Lakewood; and three grandchildren, Rachel, Christopher, and David.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, on December 9, 2001, and by a brother, Willard.
A private graveside service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice and may be sent in care of Newcomer--West Metro Chapel, 901 South Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80226.
