In Memory Of
Joseph G. Vigil
1929 - 2020

Joseph G. Vigil, 90, of Denver, died Saturday July 4th. He was born to the late Eustacio and Petrita Vigil on September 7th, 1929 in Taos New Mexico. His childhood was spent mainly in Questa and Taos with 8 brothers and one sister before moving to Denver as a young teen. He served in the Army during the Korean War and upon discharge met and married the late Julia C. Atencio. They shared many beautiful memories for 59 years until her death in January of 2016. Together they raised six children.

Joseph worked as a mechanical engineer that specialized in reading blue prints and the designing of air tools.
He was employed at Band-It Company for 30 years and retired with high regards in 1994.

Joseph was an active member of St. Catherines of Siena Catholic Church where he enthusiastically served as an usher for many years. He spent much of his time in prayer and loved reading his Bible. His hobbies included camping and fishing for trout in all of the rivers and lakes in Colorado. He also enjoyed hunting with his brothers in his younger years. Joseph was extremely skilled with his hands and was always finding ways to either build something new from recycled materials or fixing absolutely everything and anything around the house. He was known by his kind heartedness and love for all friends and family members. One can always be sure to have a wonderful visit filled with phenomenal stories from his past. But he will best be remembered by his infectious laughter and amazing smile for you could feel the warmth and love by just being near him. He will be deeply missed and was loved dearly.

Joseph is survived by 5 of his six children: Michael G. Vigil, Richard M. Vigil (deceased), Mark D. Vigil, Christine R. Vigil, Theresa D. Vigil and Adria E. Vigil. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
