Gerald Lee Brooks (Jerry) was born December16, 1947 in Elmira, New York. He Passed on October 16, 2021 in Aurora, Colorado. Jerry's Heritage was Cherokee and Shawnee Indian.

Jerry’s family move to Pueblo, Colorado in 1949 where he attended elementary school for a few years. The family moved back to Elmira, NY where they lived with his Grandma Lamoreaux for a few months. They moved between New York and New Jersey for three years; and back to Pueblo, CO where Jerry attended Junior High School and High School.

Jerry was active in sports and played baseball, basketball and football during High School in Pueblo. Jerry received a partial scholarship to play football for Southern Colorado State College. An injury ended his football and academic career there. Jerry attended Manpower School for welding and during the Vietnam War, he worked for the Army Depot disarming mustard gas bombs.

Jerry has a daughter, Denise (Brooks) Coulson, by his first wife Darlene.

He moved to Denver shortly after that marriage ended where he worked as a motorcycle escort for Jefferson County Policy Department and as policeman at Lakeside Amusement Park.

Jerry also worked for Strait Creek Construction where he ran the chuck tender during the drilling of the Eisenhower Tunnel. He left this position after being stuck in the tunnel during a cave-in.

Jerry met Patty Taylor and they were married in March 7, 1971. They had a son, Jeffrey Quinn Brooks born June 23, 1971 and Jerry adopted Patty’s son, Troy Duane Brooks in September of 1971. Jerry worked for Komac Paint for four years during this time.

Jerry worked for Goodman Trucking for 23 ½ years and for Colorado Kenworth Trucking for another 15 years, retiring at the age of 62.

Jerry enjoyed playing golf, recreational softball, bowling and fishing. He coached baseball, football, and basketball. Jerry coached his sons and grandson, Bo, in Little League Baseball and Football.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patty Brooks; daughter, Denise Coulson, sons Troy (wife Denese) and Jeff Brooks; grandchildren Lacy Steele, Bo Brooks, Taylor Brooks, Quinn Brooks and Raeya Brooks.
