Susan Foster
1946 - 2021

Susan Foster, age 75, of Denver, CO passed away peacefully embraced by her loving wife, Barbara Baker and beloved nephew, Michael Sanders on November 20, 2021 from a lengthy endurance of dementia. Born in Waterville, ME, but grew up in Oklahoma City, OK. She attended Harding High School where she graduated in 1964. Susan studied at Randolph Macon Women’s College in Lynchburg, VA for two years and then transferred to the University of Oklahoma where she obtained both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in speech and language pathology. Upon her graduation she spent one year in Plainview, TX as a speech therapist and in 1970 came to Denver Public Schools as an elementary education speech therapist. Susan worked in approximately 40 elementary schools before retiring in 2001 with 30 years of experience.

Upon retiring, Susan was hired as the Girls’ and Boys’ Golf Coach at East High School and was instrumental in taking the girls to State competitions twice during that time. Her passion for golf was unsurpassed. Susan moved to New Hampshire in 2004 where she continued to work part- time as a speech therapist.

Susan spent most summers during her youth and into adulthood in her most favorite place, Great Pond in Belgrade Lakes, ME. The large extended Foster family had several cottages on Foster’s Point where they all happily gathered each summer.

Susan is predeceased by her father (Vernon L. Foster) and her mother (Mary Wood Foster), as well as numerous uncles and aunts. She is survived by her wife, Barbara Baker of Denver, and her sister, Lorna Matthiesen, nephew Michael Sanders and niece Stacy Sanders, all of whom reside in Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Alzheimer’s Association and Chelsea Place Memory Care where Susan resided the past 6 years. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the incredible staff at Chelsea Place for their love and devotion to those in their care.

The Celebration of Life Service and Reception will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the Wellshire Event Center, 3333 S Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80222 at 1:00 PM.
